What is the best universal/ multi scanner tool hardware device for all car brands?

Hi i wonder, What is the best universal/ multi scanner tool hardware device for all car brands? Specially fot fiat , chrysler , alfa romeo , jeep, kia huindai and some hard to read brands and car models some older models up to the latest ones, i am talking tool maximum close to the dealership in terms of data functionality and everything, also to include french cars like psa group etcs...

@ crouchinggerbil  - take a look at all of bladest posts (read all of them).
So far maybe one piece of software works.
Is it operator error? Is it an Operating System error? Is it hardware error? Is it firmware error?
The member has been down that road with vxdiag and Windows 11.

I think it is down to vxmanager. It's working on ssm4 but not ssm3. My guess is, vxmanager is detecting ssm4 is installed and sets up for ssm4 and not ssm3. If bladest removes ssm4 and reinstalls the subaru driver it should work is my guess.

I use windows 11 21h2 and I dont have problems with software, its more gui changes and security improvements. BUT the problem now with the newer versions, is that they are trying to virtualize more of the OS. This is causing some softwares that have vm protection not to work anymore. Microsoft is also working with chip manufacturers to make secure pc chips.

The scanmatik sm2 pro, I only recommend buying the genuine one from russia and not a cheap china clone. Although they have almost tripled in price because of the war, it is the best j2534 you can get.  The chinese are being opportunists as usual, selling cheap junk.

Hello i have  green - i will not mention their name, they are total, crap for vw cant read most ecu and live data on cars after 2016, same like psa group... etcs... they are junk, not stable with nissan infiniti as well.. cant read engine ecu... which is useless... i mean i dont care about abs module i can read abs with my open port 2.0 not good investment green cable... i will not buy any more i have spend a lot for their junk... i want high end and quality stuff like bosch kts or something very good close to dealership and oem not another chinese junk.

Members need to read all of those posts.
There are documents about the issues with Windows 11 with the applications we use.
The automotive manufactures I work with despise, and hate Windows 11.
Even General Motors still has not validated W11 for programming.
I have been down that road many times and will never trust W11 for any programming or adaptations.

I am connected with these industries with technicians and they have proved W11 to be unreliable.
Windows 10 Pro is recommended for all programming and adaptations.

This is not intended as an argument, it is gathered information from industry leaders and maybe in the future, microcrap will pull their heads out of their anus and smell the fresh air.

One added Automotive Scan Tool is Autocom.
It is Euro based and have worked with it for quite some time.
There are many captures / images and pdf files posted within the forum using different models from North America.
The proof is in the created posts. Subaru, Nissan, VW, Mazda etc.
As a general / quick tool, it works fantastic with a good interface.

It goes without saying that j2534 vci's will not support can-fd or doip. All manufacturers have to allow diagnosis by j2534, this is the only reason this type of vci's exist.

As for ford and mazda software, these are original dealer softwares and not made by the chinese. Both of which you cannot install on the same machine unless you put one on a vm.

Did you buy the extra licenses you need to use the vcx on these other softwares or are you trying to use their passthru driver on these other softwares?

Genuine openport is not great really, it does not work on all passthru softwares either, this one i would buy a clone or avoid. I have russian Dialink j2534 and it works good for me

This document with the link will describe another version(s) of J2534.
Members need to understand, there is NO "one tool fits all" for any diagnostics in the modern world.
There are a few that do work, not perfect but can access the needed answers to questions about the vehicle.

That is why investments in multiple tools are now required.
Also, investment in the correct and stable computer(s) is required with a clean and functioning power supply.
A power supply today will be 90 AMPS or more with a clean and stable sine wave.
Too much A/C supply ripple will cause conflicts during diagnosis or programming.
Too much A/C ripple from the alternator will also cause many problems.

No power supply = death to a controller or network during programming.
Using an old style battery charger is no different than attaching a welder to the vehicle.

Autocom is good the only thing i dont like is the price.

VXdiag is crap, may be i will sale mine in the near future as soon as i find proper replacement,       let me give you my personal experience,
VW cant read most live data and most ecu specially on newer cars 2016 and up 2020 not possible at all...

nissan not stable loosing connection cant read most things problematic big problems,
what else,

PSA GROUp same cant read or recognize most ecu, missing data missing things just crappy crappy terrible device, with tons of problems,
They emulate everything but not properly i will tell you that my open port works allways
i never had a car which i cant read or recognize something with vxdiag its like hitting jackpot it can worrk for some things it can not work at all for other, today i scanned 2 nissan cars older nissan i was able to read 2 ecu, newer i was not even been able to clear errors ...
such a crappy crappy terrible piece of chinese software + hardware.
crap to the maximum level.
dont buy it.

I am aware that i cant install ids on the same machine i got 10 fresh virtual machine no software and i still cant install not a single ids software always during installation gives errors or something when i try to activate it i am not that stupid i am aware that tabman exe is same for ids mazda, ford and jaguar.
i never install same software on 1 laptop or 1 os, i am using only windows 7, for these softwares.
in virtual machine.i spend over 1000 euro for my vx diag and i do have extra license for everything, absolutely everything, its not licenses problem its the tool it self, without license u cant start or use programs so its not license issue i spoke with their non existing non helping support,.
its just junk thats it. tool is junk,.
So far i never found any use of vxdiag it doesnt work for anything PROPERLY.
its not stable and its junk.
yes i have vxdiag software manager and vx software and everything otherwise you can use it with oem programs.
their loaders too.
OPEN PORT 2.0 genuine is quite good i have made many toyota,honda,mazda, and subaru cars with it.
IT NEVER FAILED ME FOR the last 3 years never
never got a single car which i cant read.
never such a great tool! and good price.
i even read  mercedess with xentry not latest cars but some cars year 2005 no issues, and even works with nissan consult and its stable, but cant see all ecu.let me tell you i always scan dtc error scan car while they are running and oN AND i dont do REPROGRAMMING at all.
