Hey guys,
For years now I've been thinking about starting up my own workshop.
I've been working with cars for about 8 years now and i've specialised in VAG cars.
Currently i'm working as a Hi-Tech technician at the dealer.
Now I've got the apportunity to change job to a remote job and this gives me the apportunity to start my own sidebusiness.
I'm going to specialize my shop in VAG-diagnostics and bigger mechanical jobs.
I like my tools and diagnostic equipment at my current job, and i'd like to have the same equipment and possibilities at home.
(Update control units, remove component protection, online coding, key coding, mechatronic coding etc.)
I've asked some offers on a new car lift for my garage, and i will order the genuine VCDS.
So here's a couple of questions.
1. What do you suggest as a basic diagnostic tester/software for other makes? I've had a autocom china copy for years but it's a bit outdated.
2. How does the license thing work with ODIS? Are there any tricks to get the updates/component protections done with a china copy or do i need to buy the original thing?
Do i need to pay every time i use it? What about key programming?
3. VAG workshop manuals, where do i find them? I'll need the TPIs, wiring diagrams, repair manuals.
I googled and found ErWin, but you need to pay every time you use it, are there any other ways?
4. Chip tuning is an area that i'm not really familiar with. But i'd like to learn. How does the china KESS V2 work? Is it a piece of equipment worth spending money on?
5. Can you recommend me a good oscilloscope? Are the china ones any good?
6. I stumbled across a piece called Moongoose Pro, does it replace the VAS5054a or what's it's purpose?
baby steps... :)
