ntg 4.7 japan -> ECE - steps?

Patient is 2012 CLS W218, with Japanese specs ntg 4.5. Converting FM frequencies from JP to ECE (75-90MHz to 88-108MHz) results in a perpetual reboot (funny, quite difficult to recover). The rumor has it that there is a way to flash japanese hardware ntg 4.5 to ECE, and then proceed with frequency coding. The JP hardware is supposedly stable running ECE flash. Can anyone guide me to the right place?

yeah... in engineering mode after setting system locale to ECE, the device becomes unstable and freezes after several seconds - looks like some menu options are in wrong places and the whole thing freezes when you try moving between menu items. Frequencies are there, just there is never enough time to enjoy the radio.

I played with Audio20 from W204 and NTG4.5/4.7 in W212 - in both cases these Japanese comands do not accept FM frequency coding (seems to be locked, but also does not accept seed calc), so the only way I managed to change it was via engineering menu. W204 does not even boot afterwards (so the only recovery here is to boot it without HDD, where it allows you to enter engineering mode). W218 becomes unstable, but works a bit better to the point where it boots and allows you to enter engineering menu.

In both cases after switching to ECE the 1+#+HU combo does not work anymore because the buttons are reversed (pick up and hung up, green and red buttons), so you need to remember that when trying to enter engineering menu.

you must also make coding by vediamo. only issue is you get only 1 fm station. not hole list. rest should be all good.

wait, hold up... are you suggesting that after changing locale from JP to ECE, the unit will accept coding (e.g. via vediamo?) and won't be acting up? :-)
