Oscilloscope waveform identification
#1
Here is an interesting test for all the members.

Can you identify the images in the document?

Can you explain the blue and yellow traces.

This type of technology is the future.

The oscilloscope image is of a direct injection vehicle. This is a gasoline (petrol) engine.
The measurement in blue line is the voltage test directly at the injector.
The measurement in yellow is the current the injector is consuming.

The difference with both images is one with no load and the other with added load like Air Conditioning.

The engine controller reacted to the load, thus increasing "injector" opening time.
More load = more fuel.

I used the oscilloscope and probed the injector wire for voltage and current while the car was running.
It is a 2.0L Audi TFSI and had one to test in the shop.
What I saved with the oscilloscope is a perfect running 2.0L Audi.
Use it as a guide to test other direct injection vehicles. Most of them will look similar.
With the oscilloscope and ODIS or even VCDS, you see the injector pulse in .ms while the engine is operating.
If the Audi had a defective injector, ODIS or VCDS can count the misfires and the oscilloscope can prove a defective injector.
If RPM is increased, the pattern would stretch wider. When the throttle is closed, the pattern would collapse narrow for a few moments and then back to normal parameters.
Some day I will make a video.

It was a question to raise an interest with members to use the oscilloscope and save the work.
It seems you are the only one that had an interest.
That was a mistake, apologize and no more oscilloscope images will ever be posted.

Hi.
Do not apologise.
Most people here would rather just download software and go away for few days.

I am quite interested in oscilloscope (I am begginer) and Id like to ask if You could recommend to me the cheapest but sufficient oscilloscope there is to buy.

I would probably buy it from Amazon or Aliexpress or Ebay...Ali is the cheapest.

I have few issues Id like to check with my car but as I am beginner - i do not want to spend more than 40-60 USD

Do not apologise.

Lucas

I have this one
xxxxx://ar-oscilloscope.com/software/ar_oscilloscope.html
Works with PC, Android and Linux
Other pieces and additional devices were added to make it safe and protected.

Also have the Hantek 3064A, Micsig Automotive and ATS 8-channel
I have written books about the oscilloscope.
